Cossa Polimeri, a company active since 1964 and one of the leading producers of thermoplastic compounds, has obtained its first Carbon Footprint certification, confirming its commitment to a more sustainable future. The analysis, carried out in compliance with UNI EN ISO 14064-1:2019 and the GHG Protocol, measures the impact of company activities in terms of CO₂ emissions and provides a concrete basis for defining decarbonization strategies.
In 2024, the study revealed an 18% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to 2023, thanks to more efficient energy use and the purchase of certified and guaranteed renewable electricity, with a positive impact on production and internal processes. For a sector like plastics, often viewed critically for its environmental impact, this result highlights how research and innovation can make polymeric materials part of a more sustainable economy, without compromising the performance and quality demanded by the global market and client companies.
Cossa Polimeri has already launched a continuous improvement path: planned measures include the installation of a photovoltaic system, the adoption of heat pumps to replace traditional boilers, and the renewal of the company vehicle fleet with the introduction of low-emission vehicles. These initiatives will further reduce emissions and improve overall energy efficiency, strengthening the company’s strategy focused on sustainability, innovation, and market competitiveness.
The Carbon Footprint thus becomes not only a tool of transparency for clients and stakeholders but also a starting point for developing production processes that are increasingly attentive to the environment and oriented towards a more sustainable future, while at the same time fostering a culture of awareness within the company and continuous dialogue with the market and the communities in which the company operates.
